At the end of January, Sister Mary Persico traveled to Cieneguilla, Peru, outside of Lima, to visit the new home and ministries of Sisters Michael Marie, Mary Martha, and Norma. During her visit, Sister Mary had the opportunity to tour the four neighboring barrios where the Sisters minister: Villa Toledo, Huaycan, Las Terrazas, and Rio Seco. The Sisters travel to each of these barrios weekly to provide prayer and Scripture study, preparation for the sacraments, music for the Eucharistic Liturgy, and other supports to the people who live within the boundaries of Most Precious Blood Parish of Cieneguilla. Recently, the health clinic (posta medica) that is being built as the central site of Mary Martha’s ministry has been completed in an area adjacent to the chapel in Villa Toledo. |
