The fourth annual IHM High School Service Project takes place
in Gloucester, MA, July 11 to 17, 2005.
Eight IHM Sisters, two discerning young women and eight
high school students from six high schools traveled to Gloucester
to work with Sr. Judy O’Brien to create “an extreme
makeover” for Saint Ann’s School. The group gathered
at the IHM Center at the 8:00 a.m. for liturgy and a blessing
before departing.
The participants were joined in Gloucester by the members of
the St. Ann’s parish youth group, a teacher, and the Director
of religious education to re-create five areas in the school
including the school entrances, faculty room, computer room,
science classroom and faculty bathroom. A team was organized
to work on each area.
The service project planners and participants wish to express
their heartfelt gratitude and to all the IHM Sisters and local
communities who donated money or supplies as well as offered
prayerful support for the participants of the Service Project.
They also wish to thank Sr. Kathleen Lunsmann and the staff
of the IHM Development Office for acquiring a grant to fund
the project.
A total of $5000 was raised to help defray the cost of this
year’s service project.
