After completing the IHM formation program, in which she grew closer to God and the IHM Sisters, Sister Catherine Sitja y Balbastro made her final vows as a member of the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary at a Mass and ceremony on September 6, 2009.

With the help of a generous donor, the IHM Congregation was able to purchase a Nintendo Wii, an extra controller and a 42" flat screen television for the retired sisters at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The activities coordinator sets up play times as part of a new approach to physical therapy. The IHM Sisters are grateful to donors who wish to be creative with their contributions.

On July 10, 2009, Sister Lisa Perkowski made her first profession as an IHM Sister. Throughout the next few years, she will continue to live among other IHM Sisters in Baltimore, Maryland andwork as an art teacher at Mother Seton Academy. Sister Florence Marino faithfully lives out the virtue of self-emptying service. The most rewarding part of being an IHM Sister, she says, is the unconditional support of the sisters and the bond of community that she shares with the members of Holy Family Catholic School and Parish in St. Petersburg, Florida. Sister Florence is part of the Florida Sunshine mission group (featured above).

In May 2009, the girls softball field at St. Dominic Elementary School in Oyster Bay, New York, was dedicated to Sister Mary Helen Slavinskas in gratitude for her years of service. The IHM Sisters are grateful to the Ingrassia and Nastasi families for their contributions to the school in the name of Sister Mary Helen.

IHM Associates are extensions of the IHM charism and mission. Amy Fotta, assistant director of Colegiate Volunteers at Marywood University and a new IHM Associate, first experienced the charism of the IHM Sisters as an undergraduate student.
