A Note From The Director

The Development Office of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary exists to advance
and support the mission and ministries of the IHM sisters. For 165 years, the Sisters of IHM have served
the needs of God's people in North and South America.

The IHM Sisters are determined to flourish in the third millennium as a religious community of women
bound together in love and commitment to serve those most in need. We are counting on you to help us
strive towards that goal.

The Sisters of IHM continue to ask for your prayers and your generous financial support. By sharing your
gifts, you are participating in the redeeming mission of Jesus Christ with us.

All of our friends and benefactors periodically receive IHM Connection, a publication of the IHM Development
Office which profiles the ministry activity of the Sisters. Join our Mailing List (or update your contact information)
to stay connected with the IHM Sisters.

May God bless you and your family for your generous support of our ministries.

Supporting Our Ministries
The Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, religious organization incorporated in the state of Pennsylvania. Founded in 1845 in Monroe, Michigan by Sister Theresa Maxis, the Sisters of IHM established the foundation in Scranton, Pennsylvania in 1871.

With over 400 Sisters in vowed membership, the IHM Congregation is among the largest congregations of women religious in the United States. Through education, healthcare and social service in the United States and abroad, the Sisters continually collaborate with others to meet the needs of the poor, spiritually neglected, the sick, the uneducated and abandoned. Our projects and programs are diverse as we operate and participate in foreign missions, after-school tutoring, Hispanic ministry, service to the poor, educational opportunities for disadvantaged youth, healthcare, mentoring and more. All of our ministries are works for justice and peace, in a quest to deepen their spiritual union with Jesus and to carry out His mission.

The Sisters of IHM find joy in ministering to thousands of people each year as we work in 16 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and Peru. The Sisters of IHM are currently a vital part of 48 elementary and 19 secondary schools, two Montessori Centers, one hospital, a skilled nursing facility, and several institutions of higher learning. The Sisters of IHM currently sponsor an in-house Education Enrichment Institute (EEI), an English as a Second Language (ESL) Program, Our Lady of Grace Montessori School and Center in Manhasset, NY; Marywood University, St. Joseph’s Center and Friends of the Poor in Scranton, PA; and co-sponsor Mother Seton Academy in Baltimore, MD; the African Sisters Education Collaborative (ASEC), and Catholic Health East.

Your support allows the IHM Sisters to continue to be a presence in the lives of thousands of people each year.
