Who
are IHM sisters and what do they do?
We
are Catholic women who have committed ourselves to lifelong
membership in a religious community called the Congregation
of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM).
We often refer to ourselves as "IHM sisters." The Congregation
has 542 members and we live and work in many parts of the United
States, Latin America, and Italy.
As
sisters or women religious (the two terms are used interchangeably)
we commit ourselves through vows of poverty, chastity and obedience
to lives of service and prayer. Most of us work in the fields
of education, healthcare, social service and pastoral service.
