The
Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe
December 12, 2003
Scripture:
Zechariah
2:14-17; Luke 1:26-38
Reflection:
Silence, all humankind,
in the presence of the Lord! The Lord stirs forth from his holy
dwelling and our faith assures us that God's most sacred dwelling
is each person's mind and heart. In winter we watch and listen
as the silent snowflakes touch the earth and melt, sometimes
they melt on our face before they touch the ground. Your forever
love and mercy Lord, winters us into knowing we belong to you
when we willingly surrender to your holy will.
The angel Gabriel
said to Mary, "Hail favored one! The Lord is with you."
But Mary was greatly troubled at what was said and pondered
what sort of greeting this might be. Gabriel goes on to say,
"Be not afraid."
Lord Jesus, I beg
you to discover in me your love. Allow me to know your presence
in the peace-filled moments and your never failing mercy in
the anxious and self-doubting moments.
Suggested
Action:
Sit in the silence and darkness of some quiet place and listen
to Jesus who will speak to you. "Speak Lord, your servant
is listening."
