Tuesday
the Second Week of Advent
December 9 , 2003
Scripture:
Isaiah
40:1-11, Matthew 18:12-24
Reflection:
In today's
readings, we see Jesus as the good shepherd who loves all people.
He seeks the ones who are lost and protects them from harm.
The lesson Jesus wants us to learn is to be loving shepherds
for those entrusted to our care.
This passage
brings to my mind a time when I was responsible for one hundred
eighty children, ranging from kindergarten to eighth grade.
On a particular day, a twelve year old boy did not arrive in
his classroom. I was informed that he had come to school, and
I knew also that he was uneasy because he had not done something
that he was supposed to have done.
As the
entire school began its regular routine, my concern was to find
this missing student. After a short search of the school grounds,
the missing "lamb" was found. Within a few moments,
he was safely returned.
Suggested
Action:
Be concerned about all who have been entrusted to your care.
Do not lose a single lamb.
