Christmas Weekday
January 3, 2004
Scripture:
1
John 2:29-3:6; John 1:29-34
Reflection:
"If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the
Son of God, God lives in him, and he in God... God is love.
And anyone who lives in love lives in God and God lives in him."
- 1 John 4:13-15
Here we have a profound truth: God all-powerful,
merciful and loving lives in me. It's not science fiction, not
a wild dream, not even a deep desire. No, it is a powerful truth
that is the foundation of Christianity. God, Creator, Redeemer
and Sanctifier, is present within me now, as I read this, as
I try to grasp a bit of the wonder of this truth.
What a wonder - we can spend a lifetime exploring
this truth, discovering ways that we might better realize this
truth and most of all sharing this truth by our words and actions.
There is a prayer attributed to St. Patrick:
"I
arise today
Through
a mighty strength,
the
invocation of the Trinity
Through
belief in the threeness
Through
confession of the oneness
of
the Creator of Creation."
Suggested
Action:
Remember today that God is with me as I interact with those
I live with, work with, and happen to meet.
