Chichicastenango & San Lucas Toliman, Guatemala

Sister Donna M. Korba, IHM and Joseph X. Garvey served as chaperones for the Marywood University
International Service Trip to Guatemala from December 29, 2008 to January 7, 2009. Fran Garvey accompanied
Sister Donna, Joe and nine Marywood students in service to the people of San Lucas Toliman.

The group joined with the local people in working in areas of reforestation, coffee harvesting, setting up a
school library, and organizing medical supplies for the parish clinic. The group also visited the mission in
Chichicastenango where Sister Donna and the IHM Sisters have collaborated since 1994.

Sisters Donna Korba and Maryalice Jacquinot led a group of Marywood University students on a service trip
to San Lucas Toliman, Guatemala from December 27, 2007 to January 5, 2008

The group lived and worked in the town of San Lucas and participated in hands-on service in coffee picking and production, construction of a women’s center, a reforestation project, and the organization of school supplies for the local children of the town. As part of the experience, the group visited the mission in Chichicastenango as well.
