VENI, SANCTAE SPIRITUS

Come, dear, very dear Spirit of our living God, fall afresh on us.
Come, dear Spirit of our living God, fall afresh on us Come, dear Spirit of our laughing, liberating God, fall afresh on us.
Come, in Pentecostal power, in strong winds, in fire, filling our mouths
with bold proclamations... or
come as you sometimes do, quite gently...filling us imperceptibly,
like dripping water slowly filling a sponge.
Come any way at all...but come.
Anoint us...heal us...soothe...us...
Bring light to the darkness in each of us,
Bring warmth to the frozen in each of us,
Bend the stubborn in each of us...
Heal the wounded in each of us...
Then send us

with glad tidings to the poor,
send us proclaiming liberty to captives,
send us with light for the blind,
send us releasing prisoners,
send us announcing a year of favor from the Lord.
