Scripture: Acts
2:36-41; John 20:11-18
Reflection:
Reform and be baptized, in the name of Jesus Christ –
that your sins may be forgiven – then, you will receive
the gift of the Holy Spirit. - Acts 2:38
Both readings refer to happenings after the Resurrection of
Jesus. The reading from John tells us that Mary Magdalen went
to the tomb, but found it empty except for two angels sitting
where the body of Jesus had been. On turning around she encountered
Jesus but did not recognize his resurrected appearance. He instructed
her to go to his disciples with a message about his retuning
to his Father.
The occurrences after the resurrection brought to mind the things
Jesus said to them before his crucifixion. They now remembered
the promise of the Spirit and began to realize their new gift
of the Spirit. This led to a courage they had never known before.
As a result of their preaching and miracles, many were added
to the Christian faith.
Suggested Action:
Recall the little miracles in your life and thank God for these
gifts.
