Tuesday
of the Second Week of Easter
April 20, 2004
Scripture: Acts 4:32-37; John 3:7B-15
Reflection:
The idea of the common life presented in the first reading has
changed considerably since the early Christians. To be able
to say that no one was in need was an outcome of the trust of
the early Christians. Today, we live in a world that is insecure
and competitive; nonetheless, good people continue to help the
needy.
In this time of resurrection, we need to listen attentively
to the whisperings of the Holy Spirit who will direct us in
our daily happenings, especially in our desires to help the
needy. In the second reading, Jesus again assures us that the
Spirit will always be with us. Times have changed, our methods
of helping the needy are different, but the working of the Holy
Spirit goes on.
Suggested Action:
Pray often to the Holy Spirit, especially at the time of decisionmaking.
Consider the feel of the wind as a reminder that the Spirit
of love and truth is working within you.
