Friday
of the Second Week of Easter
April 23, 2004
Scripture:
Acts 5:34-43; John 6:1 15
Reflection:
Today’s reading relates to the feeding of the five thousand.
When Jesus told the apostles to have the people sit down, and
he took and blessed the loaves and the fish, we see no hesitation
on the part of the apostles. The crowd also, obediently sat
down and awaited what was to happen. What we see is faith in
action!
Our world today is so complicated that sometimes we must struggle
to understand what is happening. What we really need is faith
in action! Then, we hope, we will be able to see God’s
hand in all that is occurring, and we will become more aware
of God’s love for us.
Faith tells us that God’s love is unconditional; whatever
the future may bring, he is with us. Remember, it is not “that
we have loved God, but that God has first loved us.” -
1 John 4:10
So, like the Apostles, we will accept what is happening in our
personal lives, and in the world around us.
Suggested Action:
Choose a mantra that will enable you to be aware of God’s
presence in your life. Pray it many times during the day.
