Palm
Sunday of the Lord’s Passion
April 4, 2004
Scripture:
Isaiah 50:4-7; Philippians 2:6-11; Luke 22:14-23, 56
Reflection:
The Lord Yahweh has given me a disciple’s tongue.
So that I may know how to reply to the wearied,
he provides me with speech.
Each morning he wakes me to hear, to listen,
as a disciple.
The Lord Yahweh has opened my ear.
- A tongue to speak
- Provided with speech
- An ear to hear
How willing am I to share these gifts?
With whom do I share them?
At a gathering, do I seek out the witty conversationalists,
the good storytellers avoiding those who appear to have no interest
outside of themselves?
How do I respond to those endeavoring to cope with a difficult
situation – is spontaneity lacking; articulation hesitant?
Suggested Action:
Today, rather than act with indifference to an unsettling conversation,
try to listen attentively, respond with empathy. Let
another into your heart.
