Wednesday
of Second Week of Lent
March 10, 2004
Scripture:
Jeremiah 18:18-20; Matthew 20:17-28
Reflection:
Jeremiah is praying for those who are trying to kill him, asking
God not to look on their misdeeds. Jesus is telling the Apostles
that service to others is their greatest gift and challenge.
As
we think on these readings we can hear the echo from our IHM
Mission Statement, “we are characterized by joyful, loving,
hospitable and self emptying service to the people of God.”
When
we freely live our lives we are being faithful to our call as
Christians. Freedom, faith, and discipleship are bound together
in our life with Christ. When we love and serve others we are
sharing our faith in Christ and his teachings. The kingdom we
share will then help to free us from the burdens of those who
wish only to see evil, or to turn our words and actions into
something negative.
Suggested Action:
Pray the “Our Father” today and meditate on its
implications.
