Scripture:
Isaiah
55:10-11; Matthew 6:7-15
Reflection:
Today’s readings seem to be a lesson in logic. God tells
us that just as rain and snow refresh and fertilize the earth,
so also God’s Word will not return until that Word has
accomplished God’s will. Isaiah tells us that the word
is that God will save the people from starvation.
God sends what is needed to lead the people to good health.
Jesus gives us a way to pray using the Our Father. We ask that
God’s will be done.
This is God’s Word. We are asked to fulfill God’s
Word by fulfilling God’s will. God’s desire for
us is always what is good, holy, healthy.
God will take away starvation, be it physical, mental or spiritual.
God’s Word, Jesus, has come to fill us. It is our task
to be open to Jesus’ Word and love. Once we have celebrated
that love, that Word will go on to create ripples in the ocean
of starvation. God’s Word of love, Jesus, will not go
to heaven until that Word has been accomplished.
Suggested Action:
Find a way to bring about God’s Word, God’s love
by bringing love to a situation at home, at work, among family,
friends or acquaintances.
