Tuesday
of the Fifth Week of Lent
March 30, 2004
Scripture: Numbers 21:4-9; John 8:21-30
Reflection:
Can it really be true? Are we already into the fifth week of
Lent? It seems as if we just started. Yesterday - we received
our ashes - today we are into the fifth week. The journey of
Lent is almost over - have I really used this time to grow in
love and understanding of the God who saves.
Today’s gospel can be reassuring, for Jesus says, “The
one who sent me is with me. God has not left me alone.”
I think that Jesus is reminding us that God is always with us.
There is nothing we can think, say, or do that will separate
us from the God who loves us totally and completely - no matter.
I think a miracle and a mystery that we should ponder during
this fifth week of Lent is that God loved Jesus totally and
unconditionally. That is the same love that God feels for me
- for
you - for us. How then can we be afraid? God is always loving
and accompanying us on our journey of faith.
Let us be grateful for that simple but important truth - all
is right with the world and God is very fond of us.
Suggested Action:
Write a note or telephone a person who has been instrumental
in your journey of faith - say, “Thank you.”
