Scripture: Acts 14:5-18; John: 1:21-26
Reflection:
As I pondered the scripture passages for today I found myself
immersed in gratitude for all that God has given me and which
I am discovering anew. It is where I am finding myself during
the past few years that has transformed my spirituality. Observing
my two grandnephews Ryan and Patrick - both of whom are autistic
- has made a significant difference in my reflections, has deepened
my understanding of words and of the Word. It is my belief in
the Holy Spirit that has helped me to focus on the value of
the behind-thescenes miracles of everyday life.
Do I dare to take life for granted? Not when I listen to the
words of Paul in Acts, “God did not leave you without
evidence of God’s self in the good things he does for
you. He sends rain from the heavens, he makes your crops grow
when they should, he gives you food and makes you happy.”
And, in case this evidence is not enough to well up an abundance
of gratitude in our hearts, John reminds us that “the
Advocate, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name,
will teach you everything...”
The behind-the-scenes miracles of our crosses have life to bring.
I do not want to miss a single moment of it. Do you?
Suggested Action:
Take one recent incident, which you question. Invite the Holy
Spirit to teach you what behind-the-scenes gift God is offering
you.
