Scripture: Acts 16:11-15; John 15:26-16:4A
Reflection:
“Over to you...”
That was
the watchword of a retreat director I heard a number of years
ago. His message was simple. After describing the wonders that
God had done and all that God promised, he’d say, “Over
to you...” What are you going to do about it?
In today’s
Gospel we hear Jesus promising to send the Holy Spirit, saying,
“When the Paraclete comes ... you must bear witness as
well.” Pentecost is coming soon, but we do not have to
wait like the apostles did for the Holy Spirit to come. By virtue
of our baptism and confirmation we already have the Spirit.
Now it’s
up to us. What are we going to do about it?
Suggested
action:
Over to you. Lydia opened her home to Paul and his companions
as a sign of her faith. At the end of this day, name the ways
that you have borne witness and/or have welcomed others into
your home and life.
