Scripture: Acts
16:22-34; John 16:5-11
Reflection:
The scripture today tells us that Paul and Silas were unjustly
tortured and imprisioned because of their preaching and baptising
in the name of Jesus. When the earthquake shattered the jail,
freedom was within reach but Paul and Silas did not choose to
escape. They, instead, calmed the distraught guard and spoke
to him of Jesus and, then, proceeded to baptize him and his
family.
In today’s
gospel reading, John describes the victory which the Holy Spirit
would gain over the world as a victory not physical but moral.
Suggested Action:
Obviously the Spirit places us in situations which invite us
into action for the Lord. Today, sing to yourself the song,
“Here I am Lord... I will go Lord, if you lead me... I
will hold your people in my heart.”
