Scripture: Acts 17:15, 22-18:l; John 16:12-15
Reflection:
“In him we live and move and have our being.” -
Acts 17:28
The reading from Acts speaks to us about God the Creator and
his desire for us. We hear that he does not “dwell in
sanctuaries made by human hands; nor “is he served by
human hands because he needs anything.” Why did God create
the universe and humans? “So that people might seek God,
even perhaps grope for him and find him,” because God
loves us and desires to be one with us. The passage goes on
to say, “Though indeed he is not far from any one of us.”
God calls us to a relationship with himself not because he needs
us to do anything but simply be in love.
The passage from John’s gospel begins with “I have
much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now.” The
gift to us that Jesus promises in the part of this Last Supper
discourse is the Spirit. “But when he comes, the Spirit
of Truth, he will guide you to all truth.” So in our seeking
and groping for God we will find him through the Spirit of Truth
when we allow him to guide us to all truth.
Suggested Action:
Remembering that God dwells in each of us, treat each person
you meet today with reverence.
