Scripture: Acts 20:28-38; John 17:11B-19
Reflection:
“There is more happiness in giving than in receiving.”
These words of Paul end his discourse on the need to be watchful
over ourselves and the church. He warns against those who distort
the truth. He points out the need for hard work and the need
to care for the weak.
As I count my blessings, it seems that I am more often on the
receiving end of life. I have food, shelter, freedom to move
about and to worship.
Let me search again today’s scripture readings. What is
there in these sacred words that will help me to give of myself
today?
Suggested action:
Reread the scripture passages. Find a word or phrase that seems
to speak to you. Write it on a slip of paper and put it in your
pocket or place it where you will see it often. Find a way today
to aid someone who is weak in any manner, keeping your scripture
word or phrase uppermost in your mind.
