Solemnity
of the Feast of Pentecost
May 30, 2004
Scripture: Acts
2:1-11; Romans 8:8-17; John 14:15-16, 23B-26
Reflection:
“Wait for the gift I told you about, the gift my Father
promised…the Holy Spirit.” - Acts 1: 4-5
The graced moments in our lives are the breath of the Holy Spirit
fulfilling the promise that Jesus made to us as he prepared
for his own death. “I will ask the Father, and he will
give you another helper…he is the Spirit, who reveals
the truth about God…I will send him to you from the Father.”
- John 14:16-17
How wonderful to realize that through the Spirit and through
our baptism, we have been gifted with the help we need to come
closer to knowing “the truth about God.” To the
extent that we pray for and accept this help will we experience
the fruits of the Spirit…“Love, joy, peace, patience,
kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”
- Galatians 5:22-23
Suggested Action:
Take time to be aware of the times when the fruits of the Spirit
have gifted your life. On this feast, pray that the Holy Spirit
may help you to go deeper into the “truth of God.”
