Saturday
of the Third Week of Easter
April 16, 2005
Scripture: Acts 9:31-42; John 6:60-69
Reflection:
The apostles were commissioned by Jesus to go and make disciples
of all nations. In response to this command, they made many journeys
to bring the Gospel to the people they encountered. In today’s
scripture we read of Peter curing a paralytic and raising a woman
to life in Jesus’ name.
Our role in ministry is to carry on the mission of Jesus. He held
up a view of the future and gave us the Beatitudes as a direction
for bringing the vision to reality.
As members of a diverse society, we are called to work for peace
and reconciliation among people of different cultures and religions.
Jesus made charity the distinguishing mark of his disciples. “By
this will all people know that you are my disciples, by the love
you bear one another.”
Suggested Action:
Ponder ways in which you can create an atmosphere of peace and
reconciliation among the people with whom you live and minister.
