of the First Week of Lent

Scripture: Esther:12, 14-16,
23-25; Matthew 7:7-12
Reflection:
Parents, teachers, and persons in authority are supposed to
be models for children, students, and constituents. Esther is
the model of how one reaches out to God, her King, for her needs,
so she can bring what is best for God’s people. The hierarchy
of needs moves from heritage to justice to fulfillment of promises.
Esther knocks at the door and is confident it will open. This
strong woman models for parents how they are to care and protect
their children. Such actions model for us who are educated,
who are in positions to advocate for those who have no voice
or who have little knowledge of how one approaches those “who
have,” so those “who have not” can experience
compassion, respect, and hope, as well as the basic sustenance
of food, shelter, love, decent work, and adequate wages.
Suggested Action:
Be aware today of your roles as a model and as an advocate.
