Friday
of the First Week of Lent
February 18, 2005
Scripture: Ezekiel 18:21-28, Matthew 5:20-26
Reflection:
What a gift these readings are to us today. The message given
us by both Ezekiel and Matthew are clear and simple.
“Turn away from your sins and be saved.” -Ezekiel
18:21
“If you are about to offer your gift to God at the altar
and you remember that your sister or brother has something against
you, leave your gift in front of the altar, go and make peace
and then come back and offer your gift to God.” -Matthew
5:23 24
As we continue our Lenten journey in hopes of learning from
our human shortcomings, we are offered the graces to look within
our hearts and open ourselves to the gift of reconciliation
offered in today’s readings.
We know only too well our need to be loving and forgiving people
of God. To be truly reconciled with our God, others, and ourselves
is a gift in itself.
Suggested Action:
As you go about your day, pray for the awareness to be a sign
of reconciliation through words or your presence to someone
who is in need of this gift.
