Friday
of the Fourth Week of Lent
March 11, 2005
Scripture: Wisdom
2: 1-A, 12-22; John 7: 1-2, 10, 25-30
Reflection:
Today’s readings could almost be a description of the world
in which we live, “… brief and troublesome is our
lifetime... with no remedy for dying.... Let us beset the just
one.... He sets himself against our doings.... And Jesus called
out, ‘I was sent by One who has the right to send... and
Him you do not know. . . .’”
So often we are caught up in wars and rumors of wars, disasters
for which there is no remedy, godless living and the insatiable
need to get ahead. Despite our vowed religious life, we can all
too easily find ourselves immersed in the frenzy of this everyday
world.
How can we reconcile our need to be children of this world and
messengers of peace at the same time? How can we make God known
in our ministry here, wherever we happen to be? Lent is the season
for reconciliation. It is the perfect time to try to heal the
suffering of alienation from God that afflicts so many of our
brothers and sisters.
Suggested Action:
Reach out today to one person who needs some word of God tochange
his/her life. Speak that word.
