Scripture: Daniel 13:1-9, 15-17, 19-30, 33-62; John
8:1-11
Reflection:
In our first reading we find a young boy who isn’t afraid
to cry out for justice in an unjust situation. Imagine how he
must have believed and trusted that God would prevail. How willing
and ready am I to defend an issue or situation that is unjust?
To see that justice is shown towards those who are mistreated?
And then in John’s Gospel we encounter Jesus who is being
tested by the Pharisees who pressure him to exert his power while
they themselves are abusing their own power willing to put a woman
in harm’s way. Jesus realizes he’s being tested and
challenges the group to integrity. When Jesus begins writing in
the sand, where will I be?
Each of us is in relationship with a God of justice and a God
of hope. Let us remember that it is when we feel the most broken
and alienated that God is right there with us. It seems that God
can’t resist us when we are vulnerable.
Keep believing!
Keep trying!
Keep trusting in the Lord!
Suggested Action:
Read the words of today’s Scriptures slowly and reflectively.
Where could reconciliation take place in these situations? What
am I doing right now to bring about reconciliation in my life?
