Solemnity
of Easter Sunday
March 27, 2005
Scripture: Acts 10:34A, 37-43; Colossians 3:1-4; John
29:1-9
Reflection:
This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad
in it. Alleluia. Four times in the Easter Week readings we meet
Mary. Mary was deeply in love with Jesus. Jesus had called her
to himself. He called her to repentance and conversion. She heard
him calling again and again, and she responded and even then continued
her thirst and her searching for him. Is it any wonder that Mary
is the first to arrive at the tomb? Imagine the indescribable
joy when Mary discovers the empty tomb. Her faith tells her she
will find her Lord because Christ had become the center of her
life.
The Resurrection of Christ stands as the lasting confirmation
of God’s unimaginable and indescribable love for each of
us. Baptism for each of us is the celebration of Christ’s
resurrection. The dying and rising with Christ in our Baptism
enables us to stand with Mary Magdalen at Christ’s empty
tomb. The faith to embrace the repentance and conversion of daily
life in our very troubled world enables us to proclaim Christ
as the center of our lives and to bring our Christ to others.
Go quickly and witness to all that the Lord is risen. Alleluia!
Suggested Action:
Pray and be present with Our Lady, Mary Magdalen and the disciples
as you meet them in this week’s readings.
