Scripture: Acts
3:1-10; Luke 24:13-35
Reflection:
At the Beautiful Gate during the prayer hour, a man lame all
his life long was carried to the gate as usual. Looking directly
at Peter and John, he expected some money but was ordered to
get up and walk. His feet and ankles became strong; he jumped,
stood and walked around praising God.
On the road to Emmaus, two of Jesus’ followers met a stranger
who seems to have missed the news of the day. They summarized
the things that happened to Jesus of Nazareth and the stranger
explained the scriptures concerning the Messiah from Moses to
the prophets. Having invited the stranger to table fellowship,
the disciples recognized the Risen Jesus in the breaking of
the bread and in the breaking open of the scriptures. Sadness
and despair gave way to joy and hope in God’s love.
Apparent chance encounters occasioned a new lease on LIFE.
Suggested Action:
Today when your neighbor asks something of you, give beyond
your neighbor’s wildest expectations and also check to
see if the subject of today’s conversation is really worth
discussion.
