Wednesday
of the Sixth Week of Easter
May 4, 2005
Scripture:
Acts 17:15, 22-18:1; John 16:12-15
Reflection:
Today’s portion of Paul’s discourse before the Council
of the Areopagus reminds us of the simple truth that we are all
God’s children, and that God is never far from any of us.
Paul further points out that, as children of a loving God, we
have “no excuse” for our ignorance or for our unwillingness,
at times, to recognize the good and holy within each human person.
God raised Jesus from the dead to deliver a profound message of
peace, of repentance, of reconciliation. As we have dedicated
the theme of this reflection book to becoming bearers of reconciliation
in our world, perhaps it would be well for us to look inside ourselves
first.
Where are the places inside our own hearts that need healing?
Who are the people in our own lives from whom we need to ask forgiveness?
How deeply do we truly believe in this God “in whom we live,
and move, and have our being?”
Suggested Action:
In a spirit of reconciliation, reach out to someone today –
in your home, in your workplace, in a random encounter with a
stranger. Remind this one person in some way that he or she is
a special and unique child of God.
