Friday
of the Sixth Week of Easter
May 6, 2005
Scripture:
Acts 18:9-18; John 16:20-23
Reflection:
The Scriptures of today remind me of oceans, and of nights and
days. They speak to me of washing away the rubbish on the shore
with every wave and the eternal promise that a new day will follow
each dark night.
The Scriptures call us to remember and to forget. God made a promise
to Paul and to us as well: “ Do not be afraid, I am with
you.” Let us remember that promise. John speaks about “a
woman who does not remember” (she forgets) the pain of childbirth
because of her present joy.
We are called to remember and to forget. May we let go (forget)
of past hurts and disappointments and remember God’s promise
of fidelity. Like the ocean’s waves, let us be washed clean
each day. Like the promise of day after the night, let us remember
that each new day gives us another opportunity for Life.
Suggested Action:
If you are holding on to some past hurt, remember God’s
promise to be with us always. Pray for the grace to forget, to
be reconciled and to be re-membered.
