Mary, Woman of the Eucharist

Enlarged figure in clay: size 6' 2".

Clay enlargement. Maquette in background.

Dedication of the Pascucci Family Our Lady of Peace Residence is set for Sunday, April 23. Sr. Cor's Mary, Woman of the Eucharist will be unveiled at the dedication.

Mary, Woman of the Eucharist
created by Sr. Cor Immaculatum Heffernan, IHM

Sr. Cor Immaculatum Heffernan is the creator and sculptor of Mary, Woman of the Eucharist, which will stand in the lobby at the entrance to Our Lady of Peace Residence.

Sr. Cor explains the process by which a bronze sculpture is created.

Above is the maquette of Mary, Woman of the Eucharist: size 30 inches tall. From the maquette an enlarged clay image is made using a pentagraph (shown in the photo above).

Next, a rubber mold is made and a duplicate of this is made in wax. The wax must be corrected before making the ceramic shell in which molten bronze (lost wax method) is poured. Then the patina is applied and the entire sculpture finished and waxed.
