History of the Marian Convent
Blessing
by Sr. Mary Persico, IHM
On Sunday, January 15, 2006, Father Tylenda will lead our first
Sister to depart this home neither with a column of cloud nor
with a column of fire as we read in the book of Exodus, but with
the Blessed Sacrament, who is the heart of our lives, and so we
pray this blessing:
May the God who called you in the first place lead you to your
new home, and may your find there the blessings of safety, beauty,
peace, and, and joy every day that you share life and community
there. Amen.
May the God who guards our coming and our going give courage to
the staff of Our Lady of Peace Residence, and to all who continue
to work toward its completion. Amen.
May the memory of the 28 Sisters who left St. Agnes Place in Elmhurst
to live in the Marian Convent and of the nearly 800 Sisters who
also walked this earthly journey with us here at the Marian Convent
go before us as a sign of hope for the days to come. Amen.
And may our loving and gentle God bless us all, workers, friends,
benefactors, staff, neighbors, and Sisters in the name of the
God who breathed life into us, in the name of the Son of God who
was born without a home, and in the name of the Spirit of God
who is our inspiration and our strength both now and forever.
Amen.
