Sister
Luz Maria Cayazzo, IHM, was recently incorporated as a perpetually
professed member of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate
Heart of Mary, Scranton, PA, at a Eucharistic liturgy held at
the IHM Center on October 4.
Sister Luz Maria, a native of Santiago, Chile, joined the IHM
Congregation's transition program in 1999. At that time she
began study of the constitutions and mission of the IHM congregation
while also engaging in ministries with the Hispanic community.
Sister Luz Maria currently serves as a pastoral associate for
Hispanic Ministries for the Diocese of Scranton. She also serves
as a translator for Spanish speaking clients at local hospitals
and service agencies.
Prior to coming to Scranton, Sister Luz Maria served as a teacher
in schools in the Diocese of Philadelphia, PA, as well as in
Peru and Chile, South America. Sister holds degrees in education
and counseling psychology.
The commitment ceremony provided the IHM community the opportunity
to promise their support and prayer and ask God's blessing for
Sister Luz Maria as she continues her life-long commitment as
an IHM Sister.
