Marywood University International Service Trip

St. Lucia, West Indies

May 19 - 29, 2003

Departing the comforts of the United States, a group of ten Marywood students and two faculty members, Sr. Cathy Luxner and Sr. John Michele Southwick, traveled to the island nation of St. Lucia in the Caribbean for a ten-day international service experience. They connected with Redemptorist priest Fr. Ed Faliskie, brother of Sr. Mary Kay Faliskie.

In addition to working in the Vieux-Fort Infant School (K-2) and painting, the group was immersed in the culture and life of St. Lucia, eating native foods, visiting local markets and shops, living with St. Lucians, and touring the country’s beautiful terrain.

Mary Lynn Delfino and Lauren Persico, both employees of the IHM Congregation went on the trip. Mary Lynn has shared some of her pictures and journal entries with us so that we may have a little taste of life in St. Lucia.
